Courses

The training consists of separate courses that the students should go through. To get the diploma the student need to pass all courses.

Tailoring

In the tailoring courses the students work with different types of garments. They do things like trousers, blouse and shirt, skirt, vest, jackets, suits, dresses, corsets depending on specialisation. Most of the garments are made for clients which make the student develop measuring and customer contact skills.

Pattern construction

The objective of the course is to gain professional knowledge in manual pattern construction. During the course the student work with alterations of figure, measures and model as well as different details and drapings. 

Computerized pattern construction

The objective of the course is to gain professional knowledge of computerized pattern constuction. The students will also gain insight in CAD programs for creation of designs and for production sketches and sectional drawing.

Clothing technology and alterations

The objective of the course is to gain basic knowledge in clothing technology and rational design and thinking. Get basic knowledge of cutting, planning and manufacturing a product. Students will also gain knowledge of various alterations of finished garments.

Material Technology

The objective of the course is that students gain knowledge about different materials, bindings, characteristics, manufacturing methods and specific materials in tailoring. The students should also gain knowledge of various environmental aspects.

English

The objective of the course is that students gain proficiency in the English technical language required to operate in the profession within internationalized companies. The course is created from the needs of the industry, so that the students gain a larger vocabulary and knowledge in the technical language.

Business Economics and Entrepreneurship

The objective of the course is that students get an understanding of the economic factors affecting businesses in the tailoring industry. The students will gain practical and theoretical knowledge in how to start a business, and of the conditions for entrepreneurship in the business.

Exam work /Journeyman piece

The students make a Journeyman work according to regulations set by the Swedish Tailoring Federation. Students will also critically examine and discuss the work of others. The work is presented at the Journeyman seminar.

Ways

The objective of the course is that students gain professional insight in and knowledge from different companies within the profession. The WAYS course will help the students develop their initiative, capacity and the awareness of quality aspects. At the end, the students should be able to meet work demands in terms of professional skills at this educational level.
